The Washington Post reported that a number of high-end applications on the iPhone operating system "IOS" collects information about users without their knowledge.

The paper ran an experiment with a surveillance program on an iPhone phone, revealing a frightening result that 5,400 app trackers, found in applications installed on the iPhone, regularly send data to a third party.

The information sent by "spyware applications" ranges from e-mail messages, user-specific sites, and IP addresses, the digital identifier of any Internet-connected device.

Applications are usually active during the night, in the period during which users sleep or do not use the smartphone.

Applications with iPhone phones benefit from the Background Application Renewal feature, which allows the transfer of information if they are not used.

This feature works to ensure that applications are updated when the user returns to them in the morning.

Third party information

Although this argument seems to be valid, the Washington Post noted that sensitive user data was being passed on to a third party.

The third party is companies such as Amplitude, Appboy and Demdex, which specialize in marketing and consumer behavior analysis.

One of the applications where the tracking software converts users' information to third parties: Nike, Spotify, and even the same newspaper.

"Why are you moving elsewhere? Why do others have to gather them and you do not know what they're going to do?" Said Patrick Jacquot, technology director at Patricia Jacaux.

"I do not want to be in a place where it should not be," he said.

The Washington Post found it difficult to block application traces, other than "cookies" in Internet browsers.
